Promoting Accessibility and Fairness: Recent Updates to ProKanban.org Assessments

 m

We, at ProKanban.org, have always tried to ensure three things with our assessments -

  1. They are available for direct purchase, and anyone, whether they have taken one of our classes or done self-study through our learning resources, can attempt them.
  2. They are of high quality so that you cannot pass them without spending a decent amount of time either working in Kanban or learning about Kanban.
  3. They are easily accessible to people around the globe.

In order to keep up with these objectives, the assessments are regularly reviewed and updated. We rely on feedback from both students and trainers in our community to ensure that our assessments are of the highest quality and easily accessible as well. Below are some changes that we have made recently:

Pricing Changes: Enabling Greater Accessibility

Recently, the price of ProKanban.org’s flagship and most popular assessment - Professional Kanban I (aka PK I) was lowered. We want to make this more accessible for the wider community. If you buy the assessment directly from the website, you can purchase the assessment for $150 as opposed to the previous price of $200. The assessment code you received will be valid forever, so you can take your time preparing for the test. This pricing change only applies to the PK1 assessment.

Another way (our most popular way) to receive an assessment code is to take a class with one of our trainers. Trainers usually include the price of the assessment in the standard price of the class. The code received after taking a class is also valid forever, but there is an added benefit - If you do not pass the assessment within the first 14 days of receiving the code you will get a free second code. This is only valid if a trainer submitted you as part of a class, not for direct purchases through the website.

Updated Questions: Removing Confusion

During some of our Train the Trainer sessions and ProKanban.org Trainer Gatherings, we review the questions that are a part of the assessments. This forms an important feedback loop for the assessment. We are able to better understand which questions might be causing confusion for folks attempting the assessment. For each question, we evaluate the language of both the question and the answers. After careful evaluation and discussion, the wording is updated or the question is completely changed, and even sometimes removed from the assessment.

Our trainer community consistently tries to make sure that their students are seeing questions that are clear and understandable. Having a global community also helps us evaluate these questions from the lens of non-native English speakers.

Accessibility and Accommodations: Ensuring an Inclusive Exam Experience

We have received feedback from some of our students regarding diverse learning abilities or challenges that hinder their ability to complete standardized tests within the designated time frame. In each of these instances, we collaborated with the test takers to provide them with additional time to successfully complete the assessment. We are now formalizing this policy to ensure inclusivity and equal opportunities for all. The following verbiage has been added to all web pages for purchasing assessments on the ProKanban.org website.

At ProKanban.org, we strive to create an inclusive environment for all students taking our online exams. We understand that some students may have visual impairments or learning differences that require additional time or specific accommodations. We are committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone. If you require any accommodations or support during the exam process, we encourage you to reach out to us at support@prokanban.org. Our team is dedicated to working with you to ensure that your exam experience is accessible and tailored to your needs. Your success is important to us, and we are here to support you every step of the way!
Whether you have been a part of our community for some time, or you are just learning about ProKanban.Org, we hope these changes will help you. As always, we encourage you to check out our website and join our Slack community. We are looking forward to having everyone join us as we continue on a transformative Kanban journey without limitations!
